นิรุกติศาสตร์และส่วนประกอบ

The Chinese word 窗帘 (chuānglián) for "curtain" is a compound of two characters: 窗 (chuāng), meaning "window", and 帘 (lián), meaning "screen" or "blind". The word 窗帘 is first recorded in the Song Dynasty (960-1279), and it is believed to have originated from the word 帘子 (liánzi), which was used to refer to a type of bamboo blind that was hung in windows. Over time, the word 窗帘 became more common, and it is now the standard word for "curtain" in Mandarin Chinese.
