นิรุกติศาสตร์และส่วนประกอบ

The Chinese word 过分 (guòfèn) is composed of two characters: 过 (guò) and 分 (fèn). The character 过 originally meant "to cross over" or "to go beyond", and it can also be used to indicate "excessive" or "too much". The character 分 originally meant "to divide" or "to share", and it can also be used to indicate "a part" or "a portion". When these two characters are combined, 过分 literally means "to go beyond the limit" or "to exceed the proper degree". Therefore, 过分 is often used to describe something that is excessive, unreasonable, or beyond what is appropriate. For example, we can say 过分的要求 (guòfèn de yāoqiú) to mean "excessive demands" or 过分自信 (guòfèn zìxìn) to mean "overconfidence".
