นิรุกติศาสตร์และส่วนประกอบ

The Chinese word 士兵 (shìbīng) for "soldier" is composed of two characters: 士 (shì) and 兵 (bīng). The character 士 originally meant "scholar" or "gentleman" and was used to refer to the educated elite in ancient China. Over time, its meaning expanded to include "warrior" or "soldier", as these individuals were often responsible for defending their communities. The character 兵, on the other hand, originally meant "weapon" or "instrument of war". When combined, the two characters 士兵 came to represent the concept of a "soldier" or "military personnel".
