The Chinese word "休闲" (xiūxián) is composed of two characters: "休" (xiū) and "闲" (xián). The character "休" originally meant "to stop" or "to rest", and later extended to mean "to take a break" or "to relax". When combined, the two characters "休闲" (xiūxián) took on the meaning of "leisure time" or "recreation".
