นิรุกติศาสตร์และส่วนประกอบ

The Chinese character 肥 (féi) for "fat" is composed of two parts: 皕 (fèi) and 韋 (wéi). 皕 originally meant "abundant" or "plentiful", and is often used to describe the state of being well-fed or having a lot of flesh. 韋, on the other hand, originally meant "leather" or "hide", and is often used to describe the outer layer of something. When combined, the two characters form the character 肥, which can be interpreted as "having a lot of flesh on the outside". This interpretation is consistent with the modern meaning of the character, which is "fat".
