The Chinese word 乌云 (wūyún) for "dark clouds" is composed of two characters: 乌 (wū) and 云 (yún). The character 乌 originally meant "crow" and was used to describe something black or dark. Over time, it came to be used more broadly to refer to anything dark or cloudy. The character 云 originally meant "cloud" and was used to describe the white, fluffy clouds that we see in the sky.
