The Chinese word 游客 (yóukè) is composed of two characters: 游 (yóu) and 客 (kè). 游 originally meant "to travel" or "to roam", and it can also be used as a noun meaning "a traveler" or "a tourist". 客 originally meant "a guest" or "a visitor", and it can also be used as a verb meaning "to visit".
