Étymologie et composants

The Chinese character 闯 (chuǎng) is composed of two parts: the radical 门 (mén), which means "door" or "gate," and the phonetic component 闯 (chuǎng), which is a simplified form of the character 闯 (chuǎng), meaning "to rush" or "to break through." The character 闯 (chuǎng) first appeared in the oracle bone script, the earliest known form of Chinese writing, dating back to the Shang Dynasty (c. 1600-1046 BCE). In the oracle bone script, the character 闯 (chuǎng) was depicted as a person holding a spear and rushing through a door or gate. This suggests that the original meaning of the character 闯 (chuǎng) was "to break through a door or gate." Over time, the meaning of the character 闯 (chuǎng) expanded to include the more general sense of "to rush" or "to break through." The character 闯 (chuǎng) is also used in the sense of "to dare" or "to venture," as in the phrase 闯荡江湖 (chuǎngdàng jiānghú), which means "to venture out into the world."
