The Chinese word 干脆 (gān cuì) is composed of two characters: 干 (gān) and 脆 (cuì). The character 干 (gān) originally meant "shield" or "buckler", and later extended to mean "to do", "to act", or "to be straightforward". The character 脆 (cuì) originally meant "brittle" or "fragile", and later extended to mean "decisive" or "resolute". When combined, the two characters 干脆 (gān cuì) took on the meaning of "decisive", "resolute", or "straightforward". In modern Chinese, 干脆 (gān cuì) is often used to describe someone who is decisive and takes action without hesitation. It can also be used to describe something that is done in a straightforward or no-nonsense manner.
