Étymologie et composants

The Chinese word 夫人 (fūren) is composed of two characters: 夫 (fū) and 人 (rén). The character 夫 originally meant "man" or "husband," and was later used as a title of respect for men. The character 人 means "person" or "human being." Together, the two characters 夫人 literally mean "man's person" or "the person of a man." This term was originally used to refer to a man's wife, but over time it came to be used more generally as a title of respect for women. Today, 夫人 is commonly used as a polite form of address for married women, similar to the English term "Mrs."
