Étymologie et composants

The Chinese character 净 (jìng) is composed of two parts: the radical 氵(water) and the phonetic component 腈 (qíng). The radical 氵indicates that the character is related to water, while the phonetic component 腈 provides a clue to its pronunciation. The original meaning of 净 was "to cleanse" or "to purify", which is related to the idea of water being used for cleaning. Over time, the meaning of 净 expanded to include the concepts of "cleanliness", "purity", and "clarity". In modern Chinese, 净 is commonly used in words related to hygiene, such as 净手 (to wash one's hands), 净身 (to take a bath), and 净衣 (clean clothes). It can also be used in a more abstract sense, such as in the phrase 心地干净 (to have a pure heart).
