Étymologie et composants

The Chinese character 列 (liè) is composed of two parts: the radical 阜 (fù), which means "mound" or "hill", and the phonetic component 列 (liè), which is a simplified form of the character 列 (liè), meaning "to arrange" or "to put in order". The character 列 (liè) first appeared in oracle bone script during the Shang dynasty (c. 1600-1046 BC) and was originally used to represent a row of soldiers or objects arranged in a line. Over time, the meaning of the character expanded to include the concepts of "to list", "to enumerate", and "to classify". In modern Chinese, 列 (liè) is commonly used in words related to lists, such as 列表 (lièbiǎo, "list"), 列举 (lièjǔ, "to list or enumerate"), and 列车 (lièchē, "train").
